Did you know that you can email text messages to yourself and your friends? Did you know you can send pix and sound files?
For Verizon its:
To send text: <10digit number>@vtext.com
To send pix: <10 digit number>@vzwpix.com
Not fun enough? I didn’t think so…
How about sending ringtones? That’s right!
Find a sound, convert it into a MIDI file and send it as a pix message.
Once it’s received you can then save the sound clip into your sounds,
and then set it as a ring tone. It’s certainly cheaper then paying a
buck or two that the ringtone places charge. This does not work with
all phones mind you, but it certainly works with some (it works with
mine). Some phones even accept mp3 files that can be used as ringtones,
sadly mine is not one of them, as mp3s get converted to qcelp files.
Know what other options your phone has as well. Call forwarding, 3-way
calls, caller ID…most providers have these things as the standard
package, now how many have you used other then the ID feature and maybe
call waiting? In some instances you can even have special options in
your voicemail that do more then just make it like a fancy answering
machine.
Play around with your phone, see what it can do, RTFM (read the freaken
manual) even…you may be amazed what all your little phone can do! Read
your service agreement with your provider and KNOW what package you are
paying for. Once you understand what you are paying for, get your
money’s worth!
